Rotary Drum Screens & Filters

Screen Products manufactures stainless steel wedge wire rotary drum screens and filters for continuous solid-liquid separation. Available in internally fed, externally fed and channel-mounted configurations, our rotary drums capture settleable, suspended and floating solids across municipal and industrial wastewater treatment, food and beverage, pulp and paper, mining, chemical processing and aquaculture. With slot sizes from 10 microns and capacities up to 6,000 m³/h, every unit is engineered and customised to suit your flow and your process.

Rote Drum

Key Features

Continuous, Self-Cleaning Solid-Liquid Separation

Our rotary drum screens are built for reliable, around-the-clock operation. As flow passes through the rotating wedge wire drum, solids are captured and discharged while clean water passes through, and an automatic spray system keeps the screen surface clear. The result is high solids capture with stable throughput and minimal operator attention.

Even flow distribution for maximum throughput capacity.
Simple, robust structure for stable running and easy maintenance.
Automatic spray and back-flushing to prevent screen clogging.
Stainless steel construction for corrosion resistance
High solids capture with low energy consumption and low noise.
Enclosed design that prevents splashing and contains odour.

Filter Element Options

The drum surface can be supplied in three element types, selected to match your slot size, flow rate and solids:

Element Slot / Aperture Notes
Wedge Wire Screen 20 to 1500 microns High permeability, long service life, no need to change the screen
Perforated Mesh Above 1 mm Around 99% interception, lower permeability, long service life
Woven Mesh 10 to 50 microns For capacities below 100 m3/h, replace every 1 to 2 years

Three Configurations to Suit Your Process

We manufacture rotary drum screens in three configurations, each suited to a different flow and installation:

Inturnal

Internally-Fed Rotary Drum Filter

Flow is introduced and evenly distributed inside a rotating screening cylinder, where solids are captured on the inner screen surface and liquid passes through. Built around a drive unit, overflow weir distributor, rinse system and stainless steel wedge wire drum, it is ideal for removing settleable and suspended solids in municipal and industrial wastewater, with back-flushing to prevent clogging and spill-proof side plates to avoid splashing.

Externally-Fed Rotary Drum Filter

Designed for small to medium wastewater plants and industrial use, the externally fed drum removes 30 to 60% of floating solids during pretreatment, reducing the load on downstream processes. Flow rises above the filtering waterline, a speed-regulating motor rotates the cylinder, and purified water passes through the bottom slots while trapped solids are carried over and discharged into the slag hopper.

External
Channel

Channel Rotary Drum Screen

Mounted directly in a channel, this configuration removes scum, short fibre and suspended solids and then presses and dewaters the screenings for easy disposal. Spray nozzles and a roller brush keep the mesh clear, making it non-clogging even with fibrous material, and a volume reduction of around 40% or greater can be achieved before the screenings are discharged to a skip or holding vessel.

Built for Demanding Industries

Our rotary drum screens and filters are applied across a wide range of solid-liquid separation duties:

Municipal and industrial wastewater treatment
Food and beverage: clarification of juices, wine and brewery wastewater
Chemical and pharmaceutical: filtration of process slurries, catalysts and pigments
Aquaculture: fish farms, koi ponds and RAS projects (available in PP or SS316)
Fish 3
Fish 2
Fish 1
